Glow slow
It’s time to glow slow, Dear One. And at a decreased pace, you can truly shine…
We assume it can’t all get done if we slow down. We think that in order to achieve, we must maximize. Always striving to make the most of our time, our efforts, and our calendar.
But what if there was another way? What if we could accomplish more through less? What if we swapped our “can’t stop - won’t stop” mentality for a “glow slow” mindset? What if we opened up to the idea that less can be more? What if it was possible to do what needed to accomplished without pushing, hustling, or exhausting our sweet selves?
It is possible, mama. And it’s time. If you’ve been existing in the "can’t stop - won’t stop” loop, it’s time to allow that “can’t stop” momentum to show you that you Must Stop. We must slow down. We must try another way of living. So that we can welcome another way of being.
I welcome you to read the remainder of these paragraphs with your heart instead of your head. Our heads have this tricky tendency of brushing aside simple solutions; believing that in order for something to be meaningful, it must be complicated and time-intensive. And that the effort must be extraordinary and exerting. But our hearts know otherwise. Allow the reading of this post to be a practice in processing through your inner knowing. Your heart-centered knowing. When you notice your mind try to sneak its way into the comprehension, take a breath, and draw one hand over your heartspace. If you require, take another breath, centered at your heart. And continue on. We proceed one breath at a time, just as we proceed one step at a time, on this heart-led journey. And our heart can hear, understand, and accept solutions of all kinds. Simple ones, complex ones, silly ones. And our heart can consider solutions without critique, evaluation, or judgement. Our hearts welcome truths in that our minds shut the door to.
Allow yourself - through your heart - to hear this: you’re allowed to go slow. You can shine by going slow. With a decreased pace, you can experience increased peace. You can even experience increased productivity. This is typically where our minds put on their glasses and open their trusty excel spreadsheet to attempt to understand through quantification and analysis. And this is where you choose to breathe into the center of your heart once again, love…
Today, let’s practice opening up to our inner knowing. Our heart-led knowing. Perhaps, just for today, we take a break from seeking answers or guidance externally. Our hearts know where the answers lie. And so, to go slow, we go within. Always within. The direction, the guidance, the answers, and the next step are always within. Go there first, last, and always.
For too long, we have sought solutions outside of ourselves. We have researched and rushed to identify the next expert who can direct us on our way towards the answer we require. But that answer - all answers - are within. We simply need to slow down, get a little quiet, and welcome the conditions to hear. To tap in. To tune in. And to trust our inner wisdom. We each possess this inner knowing; the difference lies in our path to reach it. Sometimes we require more time in the remembering. But once we recall, we reconnect to a truth and an enablement that is more empowering than all the podcasts, all the self-help books, all the seminars, and all the Insta-wisdom.
The most practical portion of this message today, love, is to slow down. To glow slow. And I say “glow slow” instead of “glow slowly” with intention. Not to give you minds a grammatical challenge to process, but rather to gift you this reminder in the form of an instruction. Shine your light on a slower pace. Shine your light on a slower path. Shine your light on a slower approach to being. Shine your light on slow. Shine it in your way. Just as we all access our inner knowing uniquely and at our own individual timing, we can also shine uniquely, individually, and precisely as God intends for us to shine. Shine your light on your version of slow.
Perhaps for you, you open up to the idea of a slow dinner tonight - rather than rushing to tidy and get onto the next task, instead allowing yourself to linger in the time + connection around the table. Or maybe for you, before initiating the next activity on your to-do list, you take a slow, mindful breath - just for one inhale + one exhale, welcoming a moment of presence into the busyness of your today. Or perhaps, the next time you stand up to refill your water cup, you simply proceed at a slow pace - noticing with each step the connection each foot makes with the earth as you make your way to your next 16 hydrating ounces.
We can glow through our inactions just as can glow through our actions. We can glow through our stillness just as we can glow through our achievements. We can glow through the pauses we take just as we can glow through the words we say.
It’s time, love. Decrease your pace, and let your heart lead you gently on this new leg of the journey. Perhaps, just for today, give it a try. See how it feels. And see how you shine. I’ll be right here, cheering you on, and basking in that gorgeous glow of yours!
You glow, mama!
